Many people have heard the word orchestra but do not know what it means. An orchestra is a group of musicians that play different instruments and perform together to create music. Orchestras typically include string, wind and brass sections as well as percussionists like timpanists or drummers.
They may also include vocal soloists, choruses, choirs or other types of instrumental ensembles such as woodwind quartets or keyboard trios. As you can see orchestras are composed of many different parts which make up an overall sound. Joining an orchestral society will allow you to learn about all these instruments in depth so that when you take your place in them they will be easy for you to identify on stage or from camera.
