Los Angeles based violinist Kathleen Sloan joined the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra in 2014 and is also a member of the Sonus Quartet, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and session musician in the Los Angeles film and recording industries. Sloan grew up in a West Texas ranching family and began violin studies at the age of 3 in Abilene, Texas. At age 15, Sloan was accepted into the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Young Artist Program, and consequently spent several summers studying at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, CA. After graduating from the University of Southern California in 2002, Sloan won a job with the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet where she worked for 6 years until joining the Los Angeles based Sonus Quartet in 2008. Sloan is the proud mother of three furry children; two deaf Australian Shepherds, and one Catahoula mix.
