Joel Pargman, violinist, is a graduate summa cum laude of the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles, where he studied violin performance with Robert Lipsett and baroque violin performance with Elizabeth Blumenstock.
As a member of the Denali Quartet, Mr. Pargman spent eight years as artist-in-residence for Santa Monica’s critically acclaimed Jacaranda concert series. He is a member of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra, New West Symphony, and the Pasadena Symphony. He also holds the chair of co-concertmaster of the Los Angeles Master Chorale Orchestra.
Mr. Pargman spent three summers as a Fellow of the Tanglewood Music Center, the last as a member of its resident new music quartet, the New Fromm Players, collaborating in performances with the Mark Morris Dance Company, Bright Sheng, John Harbison, and others.
Mr. Pargman’s playing has been heard on international broadcasts of A Prairie Home Companion, NPR’s World Café, and KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic. He also records music for studio albums, film, and television.
